the following will be discussed the appropriate hearing aids that fit your hearing loss degree and type will be recommended. Optitones staff will assure you that your hearing aids will be customized based on your own needs, your life style, financial capablity, age, and if any special requirements.
If hearing loss presented in both ears , then you are most likely a candidate for two hearing aids, which we highly recommend. To make sure that you are hearing better, clearer and your hearing aids are comfortable, two hearing aids should be used. Although the audiologists at Optitones can best determine if you are a candidate for two hearing aids or not ,we leave the ultimate decision-making concerning the binaural instruments to the person who will wear them. Therefore, at Optitones we provide you with the chance to experience binaural hearing aid amplification in real life situations before a decision on one or two hearing aids is made. Like the way we treat the problems in both eyes with a pair of glasses, it makes sense that bilateral hearing loss should be treated with binaural hearing aids. Let me share with you why two hearing aids are better than one
Hearing from both ears: it’s possible to hear from one side but it won’t be as natural as hearing from two side. When you listen to a stereo system, you use both speakers to get the smoothest, sharpest, most natural sound quality. The same can be said of hearing aids. Using bilateral hearing aids will increase your hearing range that you receive from using one hearing aid, from 180 to 360 degrees. Increasing the range will provide you with a better sense of balance and sound quality.
Better understanding of speech in quit and noisy situations: wearing two hearing aids would help you sorting out and understand individual voices. This means your brain can focus on the conversation you want to hear. Research shows that people wearing two hearing aids routinely understand speech and conversation significantly better than people wearing one hearing aid.
Locating sound source: In a social gathering, for example, localization allows you to hear from which direction someone is speaking to you. Also, localization helps you determine from which direction traffic is coming or where your children or grandchildren are playing. Simply but with binaural hearing, you will better detect where sounds are coming from in every situation. Further to this, a person can hear sounds from a further distance with two ears rather than one.
Better sound identification and smoother tone quality: less volume is required generally when using bilateral hearing aids. The need for less volume results in less distortion and better reproduction of amplified sounds, this will make sounds more distinguishable and tolerant.
Keeps both ears active: Wearing two hearing aids minimize the effect of auditory deprivation. In other words, research has shown that when only one hearing aid is worn, the unaided ear tends to lose its ability to hear and understand.
Less stressful listening: Listening with one ear is tiring and stressful, with bilateral hearing aids you will stop worrying about turning your good ear towards sounds. You will be able to enjoy conversation and respond more confidently.
Tinnitus Masking: according to the recent reports, 50% of people with bilateral hearing aids indicated an improvement with ringing in their ears. If a person with tinnitus wears a hearing aid in only one ear, there will still be ringing in the ear that does not have a hearing aid.
